Exclamation Lost cockatiel found?

I've been posting in the cockatiel forum about my lost cockatiels, Sunny and Twee. We've been searching for them for over a week without success, and we have posters up and people searching all over. I posted a notice on parrot911.com yesterday and received a call this morning from a lady who runs a bird rescue who says someone has found a pied cockatiel fitting Sunny's description. Only trouble is, this bird was found 140 km. from here in Nanaimo-about a 90 minute drive south! I'm tending to think it isn't Sunny, given the distance. Last time we saw him he was swooping and soaring above the trees and looks to be a pretty strong flier, but would it be possible for him to fly that distance in a week? The weather has been good with a strong breeze, if that has any bearing on it. Anyway, she's going to get more details from the person who found him and get back to me tomorrow. I'm sure stranger things have happened, but it would be wonderful to have at least one of them back again.
Linda

that 90 minute drive might give you peace of mind. that is a distance that can be done with a full flighted bird, tho they usually tend to stay in the immediate area. The strong winds might have brought him there.

Can't they show you a picture so you don't have to drive?

Better for the person that found the bird to show the picture.... then later for a picture to be sent back if it looks like the same bird... and believe it or not, but a parrot from around New Boston, MI was found around Las Vegas! Although flight did not take the bird that way, driving did!

Wefinally saw a picture of the found bird yesterday. It was very like Sunny, but the finder knows birds and feels this one is a female due to some barring under the tail. She also says the bird is quite freaked out and does not appear to be a singer or a talker. So it definitely isn't Sunny, but we're still hoping.

If the bird looks the same, then all that you may need to do is to talk to the bird.... birds when in new places can be frightened and act out of character. However, then again if it doesn't look exactly the same then your search continues.
