Birds of California!!!

Just thought I'd share a few photos of some California photos!!! I took the ones at Mono Lake, where-as the others (blackbirds) were taken by someone else in Seirra Valley, in n. California. First, the ones from Mono Lake...

Here's a California Gull posted in another thread...and also on a different post...

Then two not so good photos of a Hairy Woodpecker (or so I identified it as)....

I think we saw another woodpecker as well, that was bigger than the hairy woodpecker, but it's hard to say... or maybe it was a different type of bird??? Couldn't get close enough and couldn't recognize the calls either... There were also some plovers, blackbirds, turkey vultures, geese, and maybe even mountain chickadees??? Not including the prairie dogs... That was Saturday...

On Sunday, Jess and her hubby went on a drive around Seirra Valley. Of the photos they took, I really enjoyed the ones of the blackbirds! Oh how I miss living in Seirra Valley!

The first is a redwing blackbird

The next are of *some* yellow headed blackbirds (have a few photos of three from Friday, but not as good as it was at sunset)

Hope you enjoy!

Monica, those are gorgeous pictures. The redwing makes me think perhaps the bird I saw outside our kitchen windows a couple days ago was a redwing.
