what great photos! So, where do they go in the winter? Do they just migrate to Florida?

I live in upper FL ... Panhandle.... have Hummers here yr round..

Anna ( green ones) nest every year in an oak tree just 13 ft outside back windows .... near set of feeders - nest is mostly moss/grass weave and about the size around of mini muffin and twice as long...... mom brings babies down to feeder .... little thimble size babies will perch on the feeders to eat .... make sure alll hummingbird feeders have perches.... like/love to watch them and thier offspring....

Have feeders of all kinds out year around and use 4 different kinds of wild bird food along with saved ground and baked egg shells and cracked corn in trays - other than Hummer ... about 20+ on property ( put seed/pellet/dry egg/treat leftovers from tiels in tray feeder along with reg wild bird food for the ground feeders - 2 trays) not counting 5 Hummer feeders .... have to bring in Hummer feeders when expect freeze .... put them right back out after ... got a couple of extra so I can rotate for cleaning purposes ...

I spend almost as much time cleaning and fillin wild bird feeders as I do with cleaning inside bird cages and washin birdy dishes

Thanks Stacey!! We only get the Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds here in Pa. I copied this from a site:

DISTANCE: About 845km (525mi) non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico, and then up to another 1,600km (1,000mi) into Central America; RTHU that nest in Canada must also fly from there to the Gulf Coast, a distance of another 1,600km (1,000mi) or so.

ELAPSED TIME: Estimated 20 hours to fly across the Gulf of Mexico. (Some RTHUs may go overland through Mexico.)

They migrate a LONG way :)

Great pictures!! We have a flowering bush right outside our front window and get hummingbirds every summer. They'll even come eat if we are sitting outside right by the bush. The breeder we got out cinn. green cheek from has lots of hummingbirds in her area. She's got pictures of the hummingbirds sitting on their fingers while they eat! http://www.picturetrail.com/mymojo Here's a link to her pictures.

Awesome pictures.
Our hummers were early this year, which was really unusual!!!!!! We have at least five fighting over the feeders. We enjoy them each and every year. They are so fun to watch, and the noise they make - incredible!
