What kind of bird is this?

A coworker of mine has this sweet bird that appears to be part Chicken but we can't figure out what she really is. Dusty came to her after a violent thunderstorm and was found under a tree. She is small for a chicken and acts like a domestic parrot most of the time - she even comes when you call her. Is it possible a chicken and pigeon mated? Any help or links you can provide is appreciated, even her vet is stumpted.

Thanks!

Kim

Do you have a photo that shows the tail as well, and can you be more specific about the size? Boy that beak shape looks familiar, but I can't think what.

It looks like a bantam chicken - a very young one. Maybe an Old English Game.

I thought it looked too big to be a Quail, but its pretty hard to tell with such a small photo, with nothing to give an idea of its size. The young Bantam hen sounds like a really good guess to me, although there's no sign of any comb or wattle. Maybe there wouldn't be if she were young enough.

Chickens are pretty smart.
My Mom had a pet chicken that rode on the handlebars of her bike. I had a pet chicken that followed me everywhere. I never tried to train it however. They like to hang out & cuddle too - like ducks. They will peck you very hard tho & can punch a small hole out of you that is very hard to heal - my Gran had thousands of layers. At least it isn't a rooster {I don’t think?} - those can attack with the spur as well.

Unfortunately I'd be concerned about disease - West Nile etc.
