Can you identify this guy?

This guy has been hanging around my house. I'm pretty sure he's going after the many birds in my backyard. He was two houses away in this pic (hence the bad photo). He's about the size of an Ospray. I"m sure he'll be back, so I'll keep my camera ready

Very hard to tell from that photo.
The underside of the tail looks like it has stripes and my first thought was a Broad-winged. The only problem with that is BWH's are fairly small.

If it's as big as a Osprey, it's most likely a Red-tailed.

I sent the same photo to the Ecology Teacher (and bird watcher) at my school, and he said Red-tailed as well. I looked it up, and now I think so too!! Thanks so much!

Looks exactly like the red tails that would love to get ahold of my pigeon!

yeah, this one has been hunting the birds in my backyard. The other day I had 13 robins, a cardinal, some mockingbirds here and there, and a really cool little black woodpecker. It was really warm & nice, and the robins were pretty fascinating as they were kicking up the leaves. Ahh, I love Saturdays :)

What the heck! We don't have the Robins down here in Naples. Send 'em down, please! I miss the fat little guys! I used to love watching them back in Indiana. One of the things I miss about living there is the fact that I have never seen a Robin down here.

It looks like a red tailed hawk to me, also. There are several in my neighborhood lately. The didn't used to hang around here and I also saw some turkey buzzards on a neighbors front lawn yesterday when I took Annie for a walk. I'm keeping my cats inside the house-Howi is 18 lbs and likes to go out in the yard and play in the butterfly garden but I'm not taking any chances!

Ya know, I have seen VERY few down here. In Jersey, I feel like it was all I saw. That's most of the reason I was so mesmerized the other day.

I'm still in Indiana. With Spring almost here, the robins are ALL over the place. That's really interesting...I thought robins were all over the country.
