I don't know. The face in the first picture looks like some kind of vulture to me. Not sure how many different types of vultures there are. I see you said that this bird is larger than one. But it might be a larger species. Not sure. Hopefully someone else can help.

Turkey vulture. We have dozens of them around here in NW Ohio. My husband hates them b/c they stink.

So...it was in between the two birds you listed. Haha. Not quite a turkey and not quite a vulture. A turkey vulture! That's funny.

I would have to agree as well. My husband said he had those in SE Missouri growing up as well.

i would agree with the turkey buzzard also. they are a protected speices. i know that because i worked at a camp back in mi(several yrs ago) and we were one of the nesting areas for them. they will puck in a fear response,so be very quite going by/under them. you will have to burn your clothes and find some strong soap to get rid of the smell. we took the kids for a walk in the nesting area and taught them to be very quite in the woods as not to scare the wild life. they actually have their nest on the ground in hollowed out trees or trees that have fallen down.

Yeah. A vulture for sure. Even though these birds are pretty disgusting they play a big part in the world of "clean up". I saw a large deer dead on the side of the road last week. Within 3 days that deer was a skeleton, picked to the bone. Yuk.
