Nature at its finest.

well, yesterday I could tell something was going on outside the Grey play area. Emma and Sydney were fixated at something on the other side of that window!
Here are some pics...

after looking, I see a cardinal pair making a nest about a foot away from the window, in my rose of sharon tree. I couldnt think of a bird I would rather watch, as I love Cardinals. I have them all over for the holidays on all my decorations.
so I have a house sparrow in the one birdhouse on my porch, a chickadee in the other house, and now the cardinals.

I just love this place!

They must be beautiful to watch. And entertaining for your greys! I wish we got them here. I love the red ones. Are cardinals are part of the corvid family? Like jays? I can't remember for the life of me!

You are so lucky. That is so cool. I think the female cardinals are so pretty with that soft brown color. I hope you will be able to keep us posted on the development of the new family. It's funny how interested the Grey's look.

It's like TV for them. It's great that they have that to watch and that they're interested. And yes, Cardinals are a Christmas favorite for decorations and images - they contrast nicely with white snow and birch trees....lol.

I had the pleasure of a robins nest right next to my deck in a short shrub. But the babies have all flown off already.

hey lisa i have a similar situation here at my house. first of all i love cardinals also! And I couldn't believe it, I have a trellis with a trumpet vine growing on it right next to my back porch next to one side of the deck...well, i went to go prune it up a bit as the vines tend to grow onto the deck and noticed a nest. 2 eggs inside. so i didn't touch the vine...but was so surprised to see that it was a cardinals nest!! they usually don't come this close to the house and now i feel like i can't use my deck/porch until the nest is empty as every time i walk out the mommy starts sqwaking!
the funny thing is, bailey's cage is near a window in the house that opens to the trellis and he has started imitating the cardinals whistles!!!! i can't wait for the babies to hatch.

I love Cardinals! I have Blue Jays here mostly and they keep chasing the Cardinals off. We do have a really beaufitul Hawk though . I'm going to see if I can get a pic of her. She's usually in my back yard in the mornings, but as soon as I let my dog outside, she flies off.
