Question Mallard or Wood duckling?

I posted this on BB discussion and I got answered that it's a mallard from one person and a wood from another, which one is it? And about how old is it? Its name is Splash.

I think Splash is a Wood duckling because the strip doesn't go all thru the eye its juts on one side right?

that is most definitely a wood duck duckling. Not only because of the eye lines but the beak is two toned like a wood. Plus it looks like he is getting the sticky outie feathers in the back of his head...

Splash is definately a Woodie. The head shape is what tipped me off. Please feed Splash "Game Bird Starter". All wild "self feeding" chicks need this to get a good start on life. I have never lost a wild chick after I started feeding this.

It will be interesting to see if Splash tames down. I have never had a Woodie tame down. The older they got, the wilder they got for me.

I am sorry to say that he didn't make it. I found him dead in the crate. I think he wasn't eating. RIP my little splash
