Mexican Pine Flycatcher in Corpus Christi
Hello,
My name is James and I believe that I saw two Mexican pine flycatchers in my yard this morning in Lamar Park in Corpus Christi, Texas. It's a subdivision located just toward the bay off South Alameda street between Doddridge (same street as Weber) and Everhart. We are located four streets from Doddridge but I'd rather not share the exact address. I was transfixed by the two birds that I saw as they were so very unusual, not brilliant beauties but definitely unusual. I wanted to get a picture but the birds had quickly moved from the mesquite tree only a few feet from where I was standing to a large bush where they were more difficult to see. These birds that I saw are smaller than our common sparrows, and have a kind of dirty yellow or yellow greenish tint to their underbelly but its just a tinting, not brilliant in color at all. They move quickly, even moreso than sparrows. I keep a birdbath filled in the backyard and I hope they will smell it and will find it. I will try to get a photo of these birds but my digital camera isn't so great. I believe there is a very good chance that these are pine flycatchers. Let me be clear that I am no expert at all, but they sure looked like them. I will try to get a photo if they remain here and will post if I can. But this is all the information I have at this time.
