Duck Duck Goose! (Lots of Pics)

I'm starting to think that I must be the crazy bird lady This odd little flock seems to have moved in.

They're here in the morning, sleep in the shade during the day, and they're back on my patio in the evening waiting to be fed. We have a large pond in the middle of our neighborhood with more than 100 ducks, but these same birds are at our house every day. Big momma goose comes every day and for a while we had a Canadian (I think!) goose as well. He would let me pet him, I'd call him 'pretty boy' and he'd come running to me, but he stopped coming around a few weeks ago. I saw him out by the pond a couple of days ago and my husband noticed there were three or four baby geese (2 white and 1 or 2 that look Canadian), so maybe that's why he's not hanging around anymore. He may also not be a 'he' as well. I'm just assuming.

The goose definitely has made herself at home. I accidently left one of the back doors open this afternoon while we were BBQing on the patio, and little Miss was about 8 inches away from walking into my house! They just LOVE the leftover Zupreem, Cheerios, and oatmeal that they get everyday. I even spoil the birds outside

now you won't only have bird poop inside your house, you will have it everywhere outside your house!

The goose is beutiful! I have to say the duck with the red on his face is a little odd...never seen one like that. Almost looks like a duck/turkey hybrid! LMAO

Yeah, I've learned to throw their food in the grass to help curb the poop, but I still have to hose off the flagstone once a week

The weird looking one is called a Muscovy Duck. They're pretty common around here. They seem to be known as a "trash duck." (I hate the term, but I can't change the world ) They'll eat anything, including trash, and supposedly they're not very good to eat (again I'm from Southern Louisiana...weirdos around here will eat just about anything that doesn't eat them first :eek) They are normally seen around drainage canals and bayous because they eat the small fish and such that are in there.

So many folks say they're ugly, but I think they're very pretty although a little odd. Each one is so unique which is quite different from your typical Mallard or Wood Duck who all look about the same. If you google them, they have tons of pictures, they range from almost all white with spotted feet, to almost completely black.

haha I can only imagine what you're going through! Binx is enough for us! She climbs the stairs onto the porch (I don't know how she gets her fat feather butt up there) and poops right at the front door. If the door is left open, she wonders in looking for someone to feed her!
