Hmm. Took me a little searching, but I have it now. A Mississippi Kite!
Mississippi Kite - Whatbird.com Very cool. |

I have been waiting for someone to help me identify this bird. I could not find it anywhere on the net myself. Anyway I was looking at the map where they are usually found and Tulsa is not their usual "area". Tulsa, Oklahoma is where I live and where this pic was taken. This could be why I couldn't find it. Could also be why my hubby said he had never seen that kind of bird around here! Wonder what the pair was doing out in this area?
Thank you very much Falsk for the reasearch you have done!! Could this be something else by any chance? Being it is somewhat out of its range.

Mm. I doubt it. I googled some kites and it's pretty spot on. It's not unheard of for birds to change the area they live in. For example, my mother has lived in Jersey all her life and never saw a red-tailed hawk. Now you see them all the time in the suburbs.
Birds are being forced to adapt as we move further and further into more rural areas. I don't think it's that much of a surprise to see one ... especially since it's at least close to where it's "normally" seen. |

Ya, that makes sense....We were just discussing how close it was to it's actual range. Interesting bird. I wonder if they will stick around or were just passing through. I'll be keeping an eye out! Thank you again!
