Some Of My Visiting Fliers

I have put out both a seed feeder and a hummingbird feeder. I have a family of hummingbirds that come. There is a male, an adult female and a juvenile female...who likes to chase off everybody so she can have the feeder to herself. There are 8 holes on the feeder, dont know why they cant share hehee

I have a family of cardinals, daddy, momma and baby girl. Then a bunch of other birds of which my 2 favorirte, chickadee and tufted titmouse (whom I havent been able to get a picture of yet).

I have a few of these around that sleep under the edge of my carport just about every night. Its so sweet.

I tried for about a week to figure out what kind of bird this was, because adult male house finches have stripes and are lighter....so I just assumed he was a juvenile because he matches otherwise perfectly.

This is my female cardinal that comes around...or the wife should i say hehee

Just a couple of the many many house finches that come to visit. Still waiting to get shots of the house sparrows, finally learned to tell the difference hehee

This is the daddy cardinal, he's so handsome. And boy does he have a loud chirp when he's outside, my parakeet has started doing it hehee

This is one of my absolute favorite birds. I just love him/her to death. he comes up to the feeder constantly throughout the day, and does a cheecheechee noise real fast takes some seed and goes back to its nest. I have 2 now that come around and i think that they have babies, but I can hear them in the trees doing their phi-bee phi-bee sound.

This is my young female ruby throated, she is the one that chases off the others the most. But she is also the easiest one to take pictures of too LOL Its like she loves the camera.

These are great! I wish I had hummingbirds coming round my house. But I never get any no matter how many feeders I put out. Maybe Houston is too hot for them!

Do you put out the hummingbird nectar thats in the stores or do you make your own water? I make my own and they flock to it like crazy.

Ugh. Wrens. I can't stand the little buggers. A couple have made our backyard a home and they love nothing more than to accost me every time I'm outside with their cicada/rattle-snake like warnings. Bah!

Cute hummers. I've only ever seen one male this year, but I've been diligently cleaning my feeder every day regardless. Just in case...

My aunt lives about a half hour away from me in the pine barrens of NJ. She has about 10 feeders that she leaves out, mostly the kind that stick to the window and she gets SWARMS OF THEM! Swarms!!! I've never seen so many. And they fight all the time, it's hilarious. All those feeders and no one can get along. I love them.

I guess my wrens like me, of course the sleeping ones once they are asleep, they dont hear anything until the next morning LOL but when they are awake they dont ever bother me, its like they know i was here first, and my little fella has been sleeping in the carport for 4 years now.

If you are cleaning your hummingbird feeder out every day that might be why you arent getting any. Try leaving it for a week, that way they can have a chance to really find it. I make my own water for them and after it starts to get cloudy is when I change it out. I used to clean mine every day and i notice no birds came, when i started leaving it for a week they were everywhere. They sit up on the telephone wires and look around for a bit, specially the male LOL then come down for a taste.

Here is the male one day just sitting on the wire making sure the young female wasnt around to chase him off, he does this every day before coming to drink.

I have been living in my house for about 5 months, and I swear it's like a bird sanctuary. We have an abundance of blue jays, cardinals, woodpeckers, finches, etc. I love it. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to take photos and now I'm moving to FL, so I won't be able to, and I'm going to miss seeing them every day.

Great pics.

Beautiful pics ! Is the 6th one down a chikadee? I can't see him too well in the pic. We have TONS of em down here, and when my cousin used to live in her old house we'd put seeds in our hand (or on us anywhere) and after a few weeks they started coming down and landing on us! soo cute! i love their little noises, too!
