~*Help identify this small Parrot*~

I've never seen a small Parrot like this one before? it's (he or she) about the size of a Budgie?
It was found after being attacked by a Hawk, no major damage! just a peck to it's head and leg. It has fully recovered but I'm not sure what to do as the bird seems tame (not scared of my hand in the cage) I've searched the local lost and found to no avail...... I've been feeding it fresh fruit and veg and sunflower seed, Parrot mix and nectar mix and flowers!........I'm only used to keeping Finches?

Please, if anyone can help me......

Thanks,

Gouldie.

Emmily is correct. I think it is the red headed species. My friend has one. Let me tell you, a very smart little parrot. They all have ADHD! lol. There is stop and go. Stop is very short lived. They make great pets and are lots of fun! They need big cages because of their high energy!

~*Thanks guys*~

OMGoodness....thanks so much Emmilyy and Greycloud.....I just looked up Kakariki on Google...what a surprise to find out it is a Parrot from New Zealand!....I had no clue as to what it was or where it came from.......Now to find who owns it? ......it couldn't have flown all the way from NZ could it?...lol...

Thanks so much guys....I'm off to research more about this cute little bird. You know it's a lucky bird to have found me to look after it...at least I had some spare cages and food around.....If I can't find it's owner I'd be glad to give it a home here...it's a delight to watch it eat and play.......

All the best,

Gouldie

Help identify this small parrot.

I just talked to a friend in Australia. She recommends you post the bird on
Petlink.com.au

Aw you beat me to it, I actually knew what this one was! What a cutie she is. Best of luck in finding the owner, and even if you don't looks like she's home already ;)
