We get them at my place but only rarly. My dad used to breed them when i was only 5 it was the best thing going out everyday and be able to look at kingparrots in our own backyard.

Beautiful photos!! They are such graceful looking birds and surprisingly light for their size.
It must have been the day for them today! I could hear some in my yard but I couldn't see them. My dad trimmed their favourite tree and now I think they are mad at us...

Wonderful pics Luke, thanks for sharing. About the folks not letting you have a bird....wait, you won't be living at home forever, just do lots of looking and learning, so by the time you fledge you will know what you want and how to care for it.

Poor Luke, I understand your frustration, you have my sympathy. I know its not the same but could you volunteer at a bird shelter or wildlife rehab place? Its not the same but you'd get some meaningful birdy time and learn lots. Might make waiting a bit easier. All the best.

Luke, what an amazing backyard visitor to have!! Where are you from where you have those types of birds in the wild? We have some blue jays and Robins, the occasional cardinal - but nothing like your pictures! Awesome photos.

courtzrocks: thats awesome! i wish i got rosellas and scaley breasted and all that sort of stuff. im going to be redoing my garden soon and im going to plant lots of natives in it to try get the birds coming round! we usually have rainbows, we have a troublesome sulphur and we occasionally get bronze wing pigeons, satin bower birds and very rarely crimson rosellas!
Maggy: haha yea its horrible! if you sort of know why i want a bird it is frustrating. i love my snakes and all but they aren't like a pet. they sorta just sit there and as someone said on here before feeding them is probably the most interesting part of em! and you only do that once every 4 weeks. they aren't like dogs or birds so i would like more of a pet instead of some snakes that cant even hear you speak! i do work with a guy that has a major Mitchel's and a long billed Corella and several other birds (kookaburras and tawny frog mouths) which we use on the shows but even still you dont get to spend heaps of time with them and all his birds are rescues that have in time become good with people but we dont get to play with them at all! lovelysydeny: yea he/she is pretty cool! im a bit north of Sydney at a place called Hornsby (also in a well known section called the North shore). i don't think we get blue jays in Australia? correct me if im wrong...?!?!
