Hello Everyone!

Hello from Mid-Illinois! I'm the new mommy of two beautiful Budgies. The blue is Trixie Lee and the green is Tinker Bell(Trixie n Tink). I recently opened a used bookstore in my small town and the first month I found myself quite lonely at times. I needed someone to "talk" to but a dog or cat was out of the question(allergic customers and open doors), a fish just wasn't appealing....One day, my daughter and I were at the petstore getting a first birthday bone for our boxer and I spotted the bird cages. Hmmm.... Birds had never appealed to me. I guess it was because those I'd been around were owned by people who weren't particular about cleanliness so the smell and doo doo in unexpected places were a turn-off. But, I'm a clean person and birds do have personalities, so why not? So, a week after first spying the birds, my youngest daughter and I went back and found Trixie. A week later, my elder daughter and I went and got Tinker. So far, not much is happening with my two girls. They are rather aloof, don't have much to say, don't play a lot and won't eat anything but their seed. I've tried different toys(even an artificial indoor tree), different treats(seed rolled on a tube w/ peanut butter, mashed egg n seed, etc, etc). I do tell them hello and pretty girls whenever I see them. The only result of all my attempts at anything is a "Geesh, she's GOT to be kidding me" look from both of them..... I found this site while searching for treat suggestions and I'm hoping the site will help keep me from getting too discouraged about my girls' attitudes.....

Just keep at it... I have had my baby boy (Tweety) for just over a week now. All it takes is a patience and love. Try to handle him... just dont wrap your hand fuly around them. Tweety hates that. Try to hand feed and see if they will get on your finger.
