Here Come the Teen Years . . ..

Nohea is being a right little devil today. Both kids are off school, which makes the living room a bit noisy, so I took some work I needed to proofread and hid in my daughter's room (that way I could let her currently-in-quarentine budgie out for a few hours).
When I came back into the living room, two hours later, my daughter announced that she'd gone to kiss Nohea and he'd lunged at her.
This didn't sound like Nohea, who usually loves kisses. So I tried. He kissed no problem, so I turned around and told my daugher he'd been fine with me.
"But he lunged at you," she said.
"No he didn't," says I.
"Yeah he did," says she, "he just waited 'til your back was turned."
I played with Nohea a little and kept turning away. Sure enough, everytime I did I heard him give a little growl and out of the corner of my eye I could see him make a mock lunge.
It was for all the world like watching an angry 15 year old flip his dad the bird (no pun intended) when he knows dad isn't looking.
Right now I have three theories:
a) He's just in rotten mood today.
b) He knew I, strumpet that I am, was down the hall consorting with a budgie.
c) He's hitting his teen years just before my parents come out to visit.
Oh well, adolescence was sure to come eventually . . . .

I hope I'm not too late to comment on this post........but my 20 month old CAG does this sort of thing often now. It's hard, but I just keep trying to read more books on CAGs and be as patient as I can. <sigh>
