Wow, the seasons change in less than a heart beat in the midwest!

You'd think since I've lived here my whole life I'd be used to it, but the older I get the more amazing it seems that nature can go from a sunny 72 degrees in the morning with a stiff southwest breeze to a rainy 60 degrees with a stout north wind in less than an hour! BRRR!

With this abrupt change, the trees have really started showing their color...even more so today it seems.

A large number of the trees in the woods that surround our acreage are black walnut so we have lots of yellows mixed with greens, red/oranges and these pretty little 5-6 leafed vines that turn a brilliant red climb up the tree trunks. There's also numerous bittersweet bushes dotting the wooded landscape to add their little orange berries to the chorus of colors. I love autumn and with the rain we've had, the soil, tree trunks and branches are very dark making a vivid contrast with the varied palette of colorful vegetation!

It's absolutely breathtaking to look out across the pasture and behold all this beauty.
God, what a glorious day you've created today! I thank you, Father, for allowing me to share in the beauty of your masterpiece!!

Until next post...

Well, it's official. I've retired from working outside the home. I hated telling everyone goodbye.

Our Veterinary team is one of the most outstanding teams I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The Doctors, the Pet Nurses, and the Client Service Coordinators...all of us at our hospital truly were family.

My critters will all still go there for their health care and preventative care needs. I've worked in several veterinary clinics over the years, and this hospital is by far the cream of the crop! I know the procedures, the protocols, and the care taken with all pets is second to none.

*****But this is why I'm NOT sad!******With the closing of that chapter of my life, God has turned my husband and I to a new chapter, and for the first time in a long time I'm undeniably aware of His purpose for my life...I would pray and pray to Him to just show me what He wanted for my life, and it was so simple that I just ignored what He was showing me...so I would continue struggling and become frustrated and defeated as I tried to find my own way. God kept trying to tell me, and kept trying to lead me back to the Book of Genesis with the question "Why did I create Eve?" I ignored the question, but God patiently persisted. Then it was just a few days ago, really, that I finally opened myself to LISTENING to Him instead of whining at Him. God gave me a "head thump", you know, like those V8 commercials! It was always right there in front of me, what my purpose, my job, was!
Now if I can just keep myself focused on Him and not allow myself to get caught up in the craziness of this world again He'll continue to guide me through jus as He's always done!
Thank You Father for your unfathomable Love and Mercy on me, and for Your unfaltering patience with me as I drifted from You! You never left me and no human words can express my utter gratitude. Thank You Jesus, my King, for never letting me go no matter how dark the road was!

Until next post,

I got a couple of new toys ordered for Tiku today. Both are mind activity toys: one has different colored rings for Tiku to place on pegs, and the other is a "coin" box.
That was about all the Tiku activity I got to do today. The biggest part of the day was spent with the farrier getting all the horses feet trimmed and dewormings done.
When that was done I spent the rest of the afternoon convincing our 3 potbellied pigs that they really did want to come up from the big pasture to their "wintering" pen which is about a quarter of an acre with a large south facing lean-to for them to shelter in. Yeah, first they have to come through the gate into the 3 acre "little" pasture. Once they've decided they were okay with doing that, we then had to parade all the way down to where their wintering pen is. That only took about 2 hours! And in the end, Rosie and Lucy went in and had a grand dinner feast, while sweet Spamee decided she would rather NOT, and shuffeled her tubby belly right back up the hill to the barn....and there she sits....all alone....and hungry by now I'm sure. When hubby gets home, he and I and the kids will head out and try to convince Spamee to join her little piggie family. Wish us luck!:wall:
Until the next post,

So after a long day at work, I blew off some steam by doing my favorite thing.....yep, toy shopping for Tiku! Today I added to his ever growing stash (I'm now working on filling a second large rubber maid container with toys  ) one of those Manu Mineral Logs with the peanuts in it to encourage foraging, and reduce boredom....yeah, like he's gonna be bored! heheh!
Then after I get home and get done feeding the horses and the rest of the critters, I find an email from the breeder with an update on Tiku....I always look forward to these! :ywink: No pictures in this email, but good news anyway:
According to the email, Mr. Tiku got his first ever wing trim last night and didn't even mind having it done....he's such a good boy....and he is now down to 2 feedings a day!:clappurple: YAY Tiku! He seems to be progressing along nicely and will have his samples sent in for his DNA sexing this weekend so I will know within the next few weeks if I should keep calling Tiku a him....LOL!
Until the next post,
