Question Budgie Cage

Hiyas

Everytime i take the budgies out to a roam around, they go straight back into the cage within a couple of minutes. Will i take the cage away while theyre out and im trying to tame them?

I'd suggest you take them, one at a time, to another room, like the bathroom (make sure the toilet seat is down!) and spend 10-15 min. working with them there...you can have treats on hand (keep anything they especially love - like millet - as a training treat ONLY during this time period)...make it as fun as you can for the bird...lots of baby talk, tell the bird how beautiful it is...and LOTS of praise when it does something you want it to do (like step up voluntarily, etc.)...

...if you do this regularily, at least 2X a day, it really shouldn't take very long to get the birds 'tamed'...

You might also want to consider clipping them so that they cannot easily fly back to the cage and will have to depend more on you to get around. Later, you could decide to let their wings grow out as long as they stay tame and behave themselves. Just a suggestion, or you can try taming them fully flighted.

How long have you had them? They may not feel secure enough to stay away from thier cage for long.
