Post ant bite on budgie?

I have a very stupid question maybe, hopefully our beautiful monica can find a answer for poor little me! I had a budgie yesterday die and I feel Horrable it was too late by the time we realized something was wrong my husband says it was a ant bite that killed her or a misquito bit 2-3 days ago I took all my birds outside for some sun (we live in a apt) for a few hours I went out to bring them in and there was ants inside the poop area of the cage so I took that out and brought them in. 2 days after that incident she died and I didn't know they could die from an ant bite and I feel really really horrable about it I thought she died from something I did or didn't do!!! hubby got me another budgie from a petshop she's in quarantine right now I really don't want to be judged like I'm a bad mommie to my babies I just want know if she died from a bite?

An ant bite doesn't really sound plausible unless the ants were actually sworming all over the bird. I guess it would be possible as ants do have a venom of sorts that can kill off their prey, but it normally takes quite a few ants... Another reason it just doesn't seem plausible is for the fact that there are wild birds who regularly take ant bathes, which helps to clean their feathers of any mites or any other tiny bugs. It doesn't seem plausible, but I guess it can't be ruled out, either.

Other possible things might have been a mosquito bite, another type of insect, or even picking up something from the wild birds. Other than that, my only other guesses would be if someone had used something coated with teflon, any type of sprays, candles, anything that may be scented or can be smoked... It's really hard to say without being able to see exactly what is wrong.

I'm sorry for your loss and I hope all goes well with the new budgie! Sometimes things do happen that are not easy to prevent, especially if a bird may be living outside in a cage or aviary and the wildlife comes in to take residence.

...a single mosquito bite wouldn't do it...unless the mosquito was carrying a virus or parasite...but even then symptoms wouldn't show up in only two days...

...it was likely nothing to do with insects...

He must have been exposed to something, like in the air that killed him. Unless he ate a bunch of fire ants or something.......
