Birds will not eat anything but Millet

Hi everyone! I am new to the boards, and here is the run down on my babies; I have a 6 month old male parakeet named Nano, and 2 months ago bought another female parakeet named Ion because Nano was not bonding with me at all. I love them so far, and am familiar with parakeets since I have had a few as pets when I was younger. This is the first time I have had two birds at once though, prefering a single parakeet. I just felt bad because Nano never warmed up to me like my other pets, and felt another bird would be the best option for him. It was! they bonded in less than 5 minutes and get alone fairly well most of the time. Nano remains distant to me, though he is more apt to come out of the cage, whereas Ion seems to have bonded with me more.
-------
Now onto my question! I made the mistake of introducing them to millet spray the other day, while on a quest to find their favorite treats (I have tried many to see what they like the best and they have liked a few). The problem is is that they completely flipped out over the millet spray, and not only will they now not eat any other treats anymore...but they will not eat their regular food anymore. Their dish has layed untouched for a few days since I introduced the millet, and they continue to almost constantly scream in their cage. I placed another spray of millet in their cage this morning, and sure enough- the screaming has stopped and they devoured it.

I guess my question is should I stop feeding the millet to them alltogether, so they are more willing to eat the healthier treats? On top of that, how many days should I let go by, knowing they are not eating and on 'hunger strike' (obviously waiting for their beloved millet) without caving in. I dont want to starve them, but neither do I want them to stop eating everything but millet like they seem to have chosen to do. How bad is millet spray for birds? I guess I should also point out that they enjoyed their regular food prior to millet.

Any experiences with this would be greatly appreciated! I have had other birds of mine love millet..but have never had to deal with a 'hunger strike' for millet, like this!

Thanks!
Gina
