my cats back home are actually afraid of stupsi (cockatiel), and I can't blame them - I hardly have the courage to stick my hand into the cage....

Do not blame you! Cocatiels have bigger beaks so hurt more when biting.
The odd time Abbet will bite Dusty, but it is usually in a very furry spot and Dust does not even feel it! LOL
