Introducing Tail

Mr. English Budgie.

We went to a bird show in March.. and we bought a English budgie...

When the breeder was getting him out of the cage he pulled on his tail a little too hard.. And it came out... It was so sad.. and funny... The breeder was so embarrassed ..It looked like he was trying to stick that tail back on.. He asked us if we wanted to pick another one... But it took us forever to pick him... We said no thank you....We will take him...

Well... 5 weeks later...

His name is Tail.. and we have a good story to go along with him...LOL

He is very pretty. What's the difference between regular budgies and English budgies?

English budgies are larger than American budgies (I know there are pictures of American vs. English side by side somewhere on here), they are almost twice the size I want to say. And English budgies have an actual crest on their foreheads that they can raise, much moreso than an American budgie.

There is a photo about halfway down the page (courtesy of parrotparrot.com) in the link below that shows a side-by-side comparison are an American budgie & English budgie.

The English budgies have such a look about them! I hate to say pompous b/c I've read that they are really sweet birds but when those crests are raised...

What a handsome boy - Happy Birthday on the 5th.
That photo of him tail-less is priceless.
Denise, what does he think of the Linnies? Are you going to keep him separate or get him a friend? Does he talk?
How come you got a Budgie when you're such Linnie fans?

edit - has anyone noticed the wierd times on the messages & I answered after Sarah ....????

Thanks for posting that link, Eliza. It makes me smile every time I see an English budgie with its crest raised, I love it! They do have quite the interesting look to them
