10 Budgies!
my humble set up will not do justice i'm sure! But you might like to try a few grass perches.Current set up - at least last week - i have a few things i like to change almost weekly. PS - this is Laker's cage but sometimes they get in it together & i hustle them outside, to enjoy the breeze & view. ![]() the latest grass perches wrapped with twine cause they ate all the grass leaves i wrapped the first ones in. i added string to the ends to fix it to the cage but i still have to use clips to keep them from rolling. ![]() ![]() I bought a wooden hanging toy but it worked better for a while as a swinging bridge - we got 2 but now he ignores them - maybe later he'll enjoy them again. ![]() I'd like to see a ton of photos of your birds. ![]() Last edited by homebird; 08-05-2007 at 02:21 PM. |

Abbeys Cage
Mister Abbeys toys are mostly all on the sides. So that he can fly in his cage without obstruction. His fav toys are outside his cage.
Posting pic: Go to photos & videos. Look around and you will see upload a photo. Follow the instructions and walla. Hope that helped.

~ also when you are in the reply box look either for the yellow mountain icon to put the http info from the BB Gallery or Photobucket etc [email or messageboard sized] or look below in Mangage attachments & browse thru your computer & upload - the images will appear below the message.
hope that helps as well - where there is a will there is a way - many ways..... The size of cage can be really a tough one. Do they get out? The one described sounds nice & big but more vertical than Horizontal. Budgie Buddy has a post about Cages on Ebay - check out the replies there. ~ http://www.birdboard.com/forum/budgerigars/44942-cages-ebay.html I'll look for this Utube posting the owners had a unique solution to tons of Budgies! i'm not 100% behind everything they do but boy are they working hard at happy Budgies in the space they have. - there was another member here who had 2 birds fighting over the same nest. If you want them to breed offer them more nest boxes & huts but otherwise keep all of that kind of stuff out of the cage. They don't have to breed. |

i was watching it but i only saw about half way through the movie. i agreed with everything execpt that you shouldn't lip their wings. I recently lost a budgie outside and he got hit by a car because i didn't keep his wings clipped.
I know clip all of my birds wings, except my finches, so that i never lose a bird outside again, if i can help it. and i urge you to clip your soo unless you don't want to or they are free flighted in their aviary.

So sorry to hear about your Budgie that got out.
That is terribly traumatic. Clipping is a huge issue. I know the risks but i also have heard that clipped Budgies can still fly a bit. They are such excellent fliers. I must get back to working with mine - ever since the baby Budgie arrived training has taken a back seat so to speak. Laker was getting pretty good at coming to us - even from high spots. Not that i expect him to be calm if he got out of our apartment - it would be too exciting - & 29 floors up gives you a great take off. We all work on keeping the balcony screen closed + the birds stay at the back of the apartment - that's how we bird proof. We also close the main bedroom where their cages are, if there are visitors or we are away, just in case. Personally I love to watch mine fly from room to room - it is hilarious & offers them good physical exercise & keeps them less crabby . But if your home cannot be bird proofed maybe you could devote one room to a free flight area & only work in there - especially when cleaning cages or working on them. |
