Finally eating pellets!!!

After 10 months of having Marley and Sabrina I have finally won and Marley is eating pellets!!! I got them from the Humane Society and they sold me a bag of seed (I didn't even know about pellets). Since then I have tried every kind of pellet, every way imaginable to get him to eat them. Sabrina took to the pellets pretty well after a couple of days but Marley would starve himself before touching them. After 6 months I got them to start eating "Kitchen Sink" but if I put pellets in there he would just throw them on the floor. I fed them seed for a couple months because they were molting & I didn't want to add any more stress but now that they are done I started in again. This time I fed them nothing but "Kitchen Sink" with pellets on top for 3 days. Today I put just pellets in their dish and he went right over there and started eating them!! I'm so happy especially since I have no idea how old they are so I don't know how long they have been eating seed.

My Birds hated pellets they would eat them but end up eating half a pellet and throwing the rest out. I did get pet shop birds too eat real food like fresh fruits and veggies.

Pellets can be a real long investment in trying them over and over in different ways (mashing them up and putting them on seeds), cutting them and adding water or orange juice, feeding the smallest pellets or the ZuPreem Avian Fruit Blend because of the interesting aroma, and so on. The main thing is to keep adding them and eventually the bird will try one of the offerings. You just have to figure out which way the bird will not be frightened by them. But eventually it will happen! But don't convert to pellets, just ADD them along with veggies, seed, fruit, rice, pasta, etc.

Believe me, when I said I tried every way imaginable, I mean EVERY way I could think of, lol. I even had them out with one of my tiels so they could watch her eat them since that's how I got them to eat the "Kitchen Sink" (beans, rice and veggies) but Marley still wouldn't eat them. Even when I ground them up and put them on his seed he would just throw them out (brat!). I am so happy that he is eating them now and I already know they will eat the Kitchen Sink. All my birds LOVE that stuff! It's funny cuz I got my tiels to convert to pellets in a few days with the Kitchen Sink and Sabrina started eating pellets 2 days after I started trying with them (she's the smart one, lol) but he was holding out FOREVER! They are eating Harrison's High Potency Super Fine. I tried Zupreem (fruit and natural) and Mazuri before this. FINALLY, all my birds are eating the SAME FOOD!
