Moulting Question

I have had Benu now for almost a month. I noticed he was moulting about a week after I got him. His past week I noticed his moulting isn't much if any at all. When he was moulting to start, I saw lots of little feathers everywhere and saw those pin feathers on his head mostly, but also did lose 2 cut wing feathers.

He has grown back his 2 wing feathers and I no longer see pin feathers on his head. He has a little white cap on his head (he had fine stripes when I bought him).

So, on moulting, was this a normal moult? I was thinking it was going to last longer and that on his first moult (or any moult) he would be losing all his cut flight feathers and grow them back. But he only lost one on each wing and grew those back. Or is his moulting not done? I don't see as much feathers everywhere now. Mostly some down here and there. (I am so happy I saved a few of his moulting feathers. Maybe I should save his down and make a budgie sized pillow? haha)

Btw, here are some pics of him.

With flash in his face. Kind of hard to see the small cap he has going, but you can see his messy face.

You can see some of his cut flight feathers hanging and the 1 new flight feather on that side.

Nice back shot showing his new pair of flight feathers...haha

Birds don't molt out all their feathers at once so it takes a little time. My budgies will molt for about a month and then start another mini molt about a month later that lasts a week or so. Young budgies have the barring on the top of their heads but lose it when they molt so eventually he will have a clear cap. He is very cute!

That seems like a normal moult to me!! He will continue to grow more and more flight feathers over time. No worries keep up the good work with the beautiful bird!

Isn't Benu Beautiful. I think he is what they call Cinnamon, although I'm not great on budgie genetics. LOL I have an English keet that looks very much like him and isn't it an interesting color. I think so, you just don't see many that color. Benu is also pied, he has that Thumb Print on the back of his head. He is a very handsome budgie.

We've turned our airconditioning down (cooler) as it's getting warmer here in Missouri. All the birds seem to have an immediate molt when we did that. And I guess they would if colder weather were really coming as in nature.

Benu is the absolute cutest! I wish my budgies would be so nice of letting me hold them:sigh: maybe one day.

Thanks everyone for their reply.

I keep my apartment at a constant 81F. Would that affect his moulting? Maybe throwing off his natural seasons? When it gets cold, the heater keeps the temperature at least 74-75. (I keep it constant for pet's comfort and my own... it doesn't help the electricity bill though.)
