Cayman sneezed!

Quick question:

Cayman sneezed twice tonight. I haven't heard him sneeze any other time. I had hot wings for supper and noticed while I was scritching him that I still had a little sauce on my hand (I washed my hands but I guess I missed a spot). Could it be an allergy to that? I'll keep a CLOSE eye (and ear) on him for the next few days. I just wanted to know what you guys think. If he doesn't sneeze any more can we assume it was the hot sauce? He's been eating fine and his poops are fine as well. His cere looks a little scuffed up but he's been rubbing his face on everything in the cage and I was sure it was due to all the pin feathers around his face area.

He's bummed that I have to go back to work, but otherwise we're adjusting.

He's singing along with the TV right now and it's been 20 minutes and no more sneezes. Maybe we'll be ok.

Thanks for the help as I'm really worried and confused!

I'm still going to keep an eye on him, but he hasn't sneezed since I posted. However, I think he has hit "birdie puberty" as his actions are a bit...odd. He whispers to his millet holder and gets his head under it and bounces it around and then tonight I saw him do a little dance to his food bowl and get low on his perch as if about to mount it. Is he sick or is it hormonal issues?? Wow...who would have thought I'd have "puberty issues" with my "kid" at the ripe old age of 27?
Thanks!

I wouldn't get too worried about the sneezing if it was only the once. I've had budgies that have sneezed loads more than that, and not actually been sick. It was probably just a temporary reaction to that sauce.

as long as the nostrils are dry and clear, i wouldn't worry about it too much - keep an eye on him. if there's any, any discharge that looks mucus like take him to the vet....

... for now, give him an extra scritch

I was gone for about 15 hours today (teachers need to get paid more...lol) setting up my classroom. He was happy to see me home and to listen to his CSI. So I think that he's good. He was singing to the radio when I walked in. Soooo thanks for the care and responses.

I agree with Bee in that if there's no discharge he should be ok, but still keep an eye on him. My guys sneeze every so often - Lulu sneezes in the morning during her preening session - she tends to get down feathers stuck in her cere sometimes and she'll sneeze two or three times quickly. Jerry and Winston sometime sneeze after bathing. And other sneezes are sometimes temperature/seasonal related I've come to find. When the weather is warm/cool enough to have the windows open for fresh air I notice the birds sneeze more (probably pollen or other things in the air).

Just keep an eye on his nares and be sure of no discharge/mucus.
