Question Gender Change

Ok so this is the question my budgie Sonic's [[which I bought when he was just 2 months old]] cere was purple and blue and is now blue. But is spendig alot of time in the nest he has alot and is fluffed up and no he is not sick. He does chirp alot but is acting like a female in breeding mode. Could I have been mistaken in him being a male?!

Purple/bluish cere's indicate a male budgie. You may find the Determining Gender section of this site to be helpful:

TalkBudgies.com Homepage

Are you planning on breeding your budgies? Please, think about this: There are already thousands of homeless and neglected pet budgies. Breeding comes with high vet costs and potential health issues, like egg binding. Why risk it? If you'd like more budgies, why not adopt some? Please don't add to these already too high numbers.

Take the nest out and they wont generally lay eggs. If he is fluffed up...How do you know he is not sick?

well Ive read that sick birds usually have their tail down and sleep most of the time on one perch but sonic moves around chirps happily eats regularly and flys out when he is out of hte cage and plays with toys - [That is not the way a sick budgie would act now would it]

Actually, a sick bird could act just like a very active bird who isn't sick... only they may be slightly slower, perhaps their eyes aren't as bright, they might not even be fluffed up. It's when they are showing obvious signs that they are sick is usually when they are *REALLY* sick.
