Thumbs up Need Help!!

I need some help

I want to get another budgie so my little oscar isn't lonely but dad wants to know if they will be ok together.

So if you could please tell me if 2 budgies would be ok to live together in a enviroment like this:

A cage - 2 feet in length
- 1.4 feet in width
- 1.4 feet in height

3 wooden perches and a rope perch
2 bells
1 food container
1 water container
1 massive ladder
1 cuttle fish

The cage doesn't looked cramped at all and there is a divider i can put in. And spare food and water dishes.

Should i get another male or a female?

All help and advice would be great!

That cage looks fine for 2 budgies. Is Oscar handtame? Certainly let them out for exercise and play time, if not perhaps get a larger cage. My two budgies are in an aviary, but they aren't handtame and never come out, so they need it.

Oscar is a male I assume? if so - go for another male.

A few people I know keep their male budgies together and they're fine so I think it'd be okay to put Oscars new friend in with him. (just remember to quarantine)

Also, instead of the normal wooden perches, I'd get a few sticks aside from the rope perch - their feet are only little (as you know) and need as much exercise as possible so no feet problems arise.

Well the sticks are 1.5cm thick and his feet fit perfectly around them.

And i was thinking about getting a male as.
1 - I was told females were more aggressive
2 - I don't want budgie eggs

That is the cage. It only has 1 bell at the moment but i will be deffently getting another one (Mabye not if someone has a good reason not to).

Just keep in mind that there is never a guarantee that the two birds will get along. Some birds click right away, while others take some time and still others will never get along.

Yes thats the good thing about the cage,

its got and extra 2 spots for food and waters and a divider that can go down the middle!

BUT i not sure if i want another budgie, with school and family matters its hard to get 1 bird and an avairy of finches fresh water each day, and i like have one budgie its always been like that i just don't want it to be a burden, as i am very close to my budgie at the moment spending alot of time with him. And i don't know if i will be able to do the same thing with 2 birds :(

Another thing is if you don't have time for them both, they will bond with each other and forget about the bond they have had with you.. :(

Yes, while the cage size might be fine, with birds, that's not a guarantee. Two birds may like each other immediately, or never come to a truce. Kind of like setting people up on a blind date! And, it's true too that if the birds "click" and really like each other, they might bond to each other and decide they don't need to have anything to do with you.

A good piece of advice - never get another bird for the bird you currently have. Get another bird because you want it and can care for it.

Has Oscar been doing anything that makes you think he is lonely? If you spend a lot of time with him, he probably isn't lonely at all.
