Good things come in twos?

Is it normal for a first time mother hen budgie to only lay two eggs?
I know they lay one every other day but she hasn't, it's just two.

i'm not sure; hopefully someone else with more experience can answer. but, two of my brother's budgies did only lay one egg at a time. but, these eggs were broken by their cagemates, so they could have just stopped laying because conditions were not ideal to continue laying. btw, what do you plan on doing with the eggs?

We only have two budgies in a huge aviary so we're going to let them raise these ones then take the nestbox away, and see how it goes from there.

cool. but, just remember to not allow the offspring to mate with their siblings (or parents for that matter :S) if they are going to be housed in the same aviary.

A normal clutch is usually 4-6 eggs, however hens can and do lay more or less than that. I had one hen who *LOVED* big clutches, that is 8-12 eggs per clutch (none were ever fertile, thankfully!)

Aww she just wanted to be a mommy. :)

Well I don't think I will let them breed again after these two, we're going to remove the nestbox once the babies are weened..weaned..weened however you spell it!
