Thumbs down Luck was on my side

Last week, I had Belle, Snowy and Dusty in their cage in the garden. I had secured the cage doors with string or so I thought. Snowy accidentially nudged Belle off her perch in his excitement over hearing the sparrows. Belle somehow managed to get out of the cage door within seconds, while I was watching. How on earth it happened I dont know. Belle flew off into a high tree in the garden at the back of us. She was chirping with the sparrows. She then flew over a few other gardens at the side. I thought that was it. On hearing chirping I saw she was in a tree closest to the entry way door. She then flew over next doors garden and landed in her tree. Bearing in mind it was about 6 o'clock and I had just had a shower and was wearing a towel round my head as well as my PJ's, I went next door to my elderly neighbours. In the garden nothing could reach her. Lately me and her have been "talking" to each other. She chirps and I make a kissy noise and this happens for about 10 minutes until she flies to her cage. I started making kissy noises and she flew to her cage which my sister was holding up to her. My sister carried the cage and Belle, who was perched on her cage chirping, into the house while I sprinted back to my mine. I can tell you that the amount of tears I shed in fright could have filled the earths sea's twice over. I cant tell you how scared I was or how relieved I was when she flew back. Seeing her fly off like that and the the 10 minutes it took for her to realise that she prefered our house to freedom and a life with the sparrows nearly killed me.

I am so happy that Snowy came back!

Tweeter has escaped outside 3 times. We live in a typical mature suburb with lots of trees and neighbours. Each time she would fly from tree to tree, yard to yard, but always keeping her eye on us. She would enjoy her new world for about an hour and then decide that it was time to follow us inside. I am amazed at how comfortable and familiar she seemed with the outside world, she sometimes would fly in high, huge loops circling 3 yards only to return to the same tree she took off from. We give tweeter a lot of attention and freedom in the house so I believe that she is a happy bird and that helped a great deal in her returning every time, just as your bird returned to you. It is probably the most terrifying experience yet at the same time one of the most amazing seeing your little bird out in the big world.

I must agree. She looked so at ease flying with the sparrows and tweeting.
