What Does "Bonded" Mean??

You hear it all the time, that two budgies are bonded? What does it mean.

They get along? They mate? They not fighting like cats and dogs? They share food? They help groom each other?

That depends entirely on who you ask. You can have two budgies of the same sex who are "bonded." Bonded usually means the two birds get along, and perhaps feed/preen eachother.

Buddies, best friends (BFF) they get along, share food and groom each other. Bonded does not mean a breeding pair as they can be two females or two males. Sometimes a male and female are bonded, yet they do not breed.

Often young pairs are also described as bonded as they have not been a proven breeding pair yet.
