Sherberts mutation

Gonna take a crack at this...her colors intrigue me, but budgie genetics are crazy. I read about it all the time, hoping one day it will make sense...so here goess...
Type II Yellowface, Clearflight, Dilute,...lost train of thought. Hate that...

Forgot to put in she's blue, too!!! But otherwise, that sounds about right!

Although I'd probably say a Yellowface T2, Clearwing, Blue. A dilute would have a much more diluted body color than the Yellowface T1 (?) bird next to her. She also seems to have some amount of coloration (grey) within her flights, which again would indicate clearwing instead of clearflight. She's not really showing any signs of being a pied so I don't think she is.

LOL what a long description for a little bird. She is stunning no matter what color she is.

ok, knew I forgot to add something. but that confuses me...i thought yellowface was inbetween a yellow base budgie, which presents as green, and a whitebase which presents as blue. and that type II will end up as a seafoam color...too much info for my bitty head...

Yellowface (and Goldenface) mutations can be found in green based or blue based birds. They are much harder to identify in green based birds, which indicates (to me) that it's not a "par-blue" mutation.... but, we can easily argue otherwise. *shrugs*
The Yellowface budgerigar - part 1

I don't know how to tell a Goldenface from a Yellowface, and it's possible to have Golden-Yellowfaces. So it's possible that your hen is also a Goldenface.... (due to the deeper yellow mask) or she is *ONLY* a Goldenface and not a Yellowface.

I find Yellowface and Goldenface a bit confusing, and not everyone can easily tell the difference so there are mislabeled birds out there, which makes telling them apart even more difficult. Again, another one of those conflicting things...

eh, I'm not trying to argue. Just have nothing better to do than try to wrap my head around this matter. I would love to say, someday...far far ahead in the future...far...I understand budgie genetics!!! *sigh*What really confuses me is when you add in sex linked genetics.

No worries! Genetics is, for the most part, rather easy to understand once you get the basic concept! Don't know if this would make it more confusing or not, as I see sex-linked mutations, in males it is recessive, in females it is dominant. Recessive genes require 2 to be visual, dominant only requires one gene. Then we also have Co-Dominant genes.

As much reading as I've done into genetics, I still find it confusing at times!
