Eucalyptus

So seeing as my budgies have a fondness for destroying green things, especially Kale, I was wondering about Eucalyptus. I have read that this is a large part of thier diet in the wild. You can get it for florists purposes, but I doubt its safe for the budgies. Does anyone feed this to thier budgies?

I have a tree in my yard (yes in VA & it's a few years old) that I have offered a twig from to Poppy but he didn't like it, maybe he didn't like the strong odor.

You're right about the florist Eucalyptus. More dangerous pesticides are allowed to be sprayed on flowers than on food. I always shudder when I see florist flowers placed on a cake - unless they are organically grown, not a great idea. Also not a good idea to let birds nibble on florist roses or other flowers. So, I wouldn't trust the florist Eucalyptus, even though it's a plant with few enemies in the U.S. and grows like a weed where it's adapted.

We've got what looks like a Eucalyptus tree down the road, and I've often wondered if it is or if it's a close species. Since I'm not an expert on trees I haven't given Lucki a leaf although I would dearly love to if it was a Eucalyptus tree.

Try taking a branch into a nearby nursery to ask for identification.

Here ya go- Untitled Document
Its kinda pricey, but I've even gotten branches from him for zoey my m2, and she loved them (he left some leaves on and everything for her to shred). I found the site for my sugargliders, they loved the leaves- but the birds really love the stuff too! Really nice guy, and nice stuff that he sends!

The leaves look just like the second picture in that document, but the trees in the first picture are way taller. The trees near where I live are alot shorter (maybe just younger).
