Are my little guys fighting?

They keep flapping around the cage, squawking at each other, bobbing heads, darting back and forth. Then they settle down and cozy up to each other. I thought they were both males, now I am beginning to wonder.

Any advice would be appreciated. They are young but they both have purplish, blue ceres.

Thanks - Laurie

A picture of both of them could tell us what sex they are.

They could just be spatting/playing. My birds do this and they are actually quite good friends. It is natural for birds to have spats from time to time. As long as they are not causing serious harm to one another than it should be OK to let them remain together. If you notice one is hurt or they are being very rough with one another, please separate them because you dont want them to end up really hurting or killing each other. Keep us posted!!

Thanks - it doesn't seem to be anything really serious. Nobody is getting hurt. it's just a lot of bobbing and weaving and flapping and hollering. They sleep together at night and snuggle up and nap during the day. They are playing with toys a lot more than they used to. We've had them about 6 weeks now.

It sounds like they are just playing around. Mine does it all day :)

I would flap and bob as much as I could too if I was a budgie! I think they're just friends having a good time actually. Budgies love to work each other up.

yeah, i think they're just playing or having normal squabbles. but, like someone else mentioned above, please separate them if they start to show any true aggressive behaviour. budgies can seriously hurt or even kill their cagemates, so signs of real aggressiveness need to be taken seriously.
