Progress with Skye!

Zephyr was extraordinarily easy to tame, being crippled AND with wings clipped she had to trust me really fast to keep her safe and now she's a doll, but Skye on the other hand, is perfectly healthy and active, and a territorial biter. But I have finally managed to (sorta) tame the beast. She doesn't trust yet, but she tolerates, I hope I can build trust and even love in her just like I have zephyr. But she will let me hold her and she steps up (outside the cage)

She's a sweetie. Sorry, but I missed your earlier post - how is she crippled?

Zephyr was born into the nest of a bad breeder, he legs are horribly splayed and I'm sure that the one has been broken at the knee, because it points straight backwards. The other leg pretty much permanently sticks straight out to one side, she can't use either to perch and can barely walk. However, these two birds are proving to be the sweetest birds I've ever owned, They are both already tame enough to have out and play with. I am amazed actually. The owners told me that Skye was mean and that you flat out couldn't get Zephyr out of the cage, but neither could be further from the truth!

Oh wow - you must be a fantastic bird mummy! I'm sure they both appreciate in their own birdie way the great lives they are getting. She looks very normal in the photo in your first post - so a credit to your care.

I've found taking in my budgie Lucki to be very fufilling, as he couldn't be more normal for a budgie nowadays. He's turned into such a happy wee fellow and always seems pleased to see me when I come home. He's not hand tame though, but I'm more than happy with the progress he's made. All I ever wanted was to make the rest of his life a happy one.

i'm so sorry to hear about Zephyr, but i'm sure like a lot of parrots she's totally oblivious to her handicaps :).
