Question New Vision cages by Hagen

Any thoughts on the new Vison cages by Hagen? They are marketed for smaller birds, like finches, budgies and lovebirds.

New Vision (by Hagen) M01 cage:

Here are some specs (Adobe - pdf) on all versions of the new Vision cages:

http://www.hagen.com/pdf/birds/VisionII-UK.pdf

So far as I can tell, only the S01 and the M01 are available in the US via Petsmart.

For comparison, here are the specs on the original Vision cages:

I read mixed reviews about the original Vision cages, which is why I'm curious about the new ones.

I think the new cages are better designed, but I'd still be worried about a bird becoming scared or otherwise and trying to fly through the plastic... I never did like the originals....

Size: It is a bit bigger than my cage for Laker. Because the cage is small it would be OK for 1 Budgie.
A grill would be nice - we don't have one but to have it attached to the body of the cage - you'd have to clean it with your hands inside the cage? We take the top of the cage off the base as well for cleaning & don't use the tray.
horizontal bars: Laker really enjoys the horizontal bars that his cage has too.
Flat top: quite useful
Covered seed & water bowl: look pretty nice.
Perches: nice - but i am not sure they'd be the only type i's use.
Doors: look interesting - what is the advantage of them opening inwards?

The corner spacers & plastic edges to the top are strange tho - not off putting.
edit - I have a question - Why have the food at the bottom? - I always put the food up high - to avoid soiling the seed &water & to keep the floor less interesting.
Looks good overall

Here's my guy's cage 10: x 20" x20" roughly
[photo taken when we just got him - but then you can still see the cage well!]

The perches -- eh. I don't much like the looks of them but then again, I usually toss the perches that come w/ a cage and use a variety of other ones instead.

The horizontal bars -- appealing. Beetle is a climber so I'd like to try to get him a cage w/ all horizontal bars.

I don't get the deal about the door opening inward, either. I mean, it's certainly better than it sliding up and down, guillotine-style. It would make more sense to me to have the door open out like a drawbridge. I had a cage like that when I had budgies and they LOVED when I left it open for them. They'd come out on their veranda (tee hee), chill for a while and then fly off to create mischief elsewhere.

WE sell them at work. Both the short one and the tall one. in medium though. M02 and M01 I was almost concidering getting the M02 until i saw one of the other cages were selling. But Looking at them i think its a step up for vision.
I personally like them. If you want something fancy go for it. Their Big, Decent looking and easy to clean. It just depends what you want.
I like how the food dishes are at the bottom, Forcing the birds to use All of the cage aswell.

All this talk about horizontal bars... I can see where at times they would be beneficial to birds (i.e. tials and climbing), but haven't seen my budgies and vertical bars! I really think they enjoy them, cause they'll fly about a foot or so above their food dishes, then "surf" down, occasionally to stop to get past a horizontal bar!!! It's very cute!

They even 'bar surf' when changing perches!

I never liked the originals. They were poorly designed and broke easily. We had tons at the store and ended up selling them all for $15.00 to get rid of them. I hope the new ones are better made.

Chipper LOVES to surf on her bars! She would be very sad with horizontal bars! I love Kings Cages I think. That is what this new cage is.
