Woo aviary getting fixed for Matches and Beetle

Ok my dad has a week off of work. He bought some wire to fix up our aviary in the back yard and he said he is doing it today...YAY!!! Matches can go in the aviary during the day and Beetle can go in Matches cage during the day until her wings grow back. At first I will only put them in on the weekends together to make sure they dont fight alot but there is plenty of room in there, we used to de-humanise the rescued wildlife in that aviary so it is a nice size. Also our guinea pigs lived in there and there were about 25 guinea pigs. I can't wait to get home and set it up for the birds with bowls and stuff...there is rope and perches in there already from the birds we would release. I will take photo's for you all when it's done..I CAN'T WAIT!

Anything I should know about maybe ants and stuff? We are cutting all the plants back to avoid ticks and putting a bigger wire fence up so the bandicoots dont bring ticks in...let me know your thoughts and maybe some suggestions of what they might like in there?

Hmmm..I have no clue what they would like but I can't wait to see pics...I wish I could get someone to do that for me (hint, hint to boyfriend). I'm sure they will love whatever you decide to put in there.

Oh and any good methods for ants...We have scrub turkeys that like the birds but I don't want them to be hurt by any ant poisons either. Maybe I should just not worry about ants?

Yeah I have remembered I need a bird bath for in there.

I wouldn't worry about the ants and I really wouldn't use any poisons. I would avoid putting any fruit in there since this will attract ants. I know here in the U.S. mourning doves will actually sit over an ant hill and let the ants crawl on them and I have seen them do this but for the life of me I can't remember why...

Maybe plant some bird safe plants that they could chew on? Even some veggies in pots and maybe hang them from the side so they could just eat them out of there. I don't know anything about Alexandrines or GCC's so I'm just saying what I had thought about for my birds. Also a lot of food hidden in areas so they could forage

Yeah I think I just wont worry about the ants, they're not in the house so it doesnt really matter.
