Question Bird Cage for Senegal

Hi,

I could sure use some advice. I have a 14 year old Senegal who currently resides in a Cal cage (approx. 28" high, 23" wide, 32" length). I am downsizing our home and want a smaller cage. I have looked at the HQ 80024 and the AA Protege. Is HQ a high-quality brand? Jake is out a lot and has a play stand and a sleeping cage upstairs. It appears some folks are not happy with the Protege model. I would so appreciate any suggestions and recommendations. This is driving me crazy, and I'm no closer to making a decision. <smile>

AA cages are ususally good quality; I always liked the looks of them. The only model I'm not fond of is the Protege... but it doesn't appeal to me visually ;) For the most part, I've heard that they are a decent cage. IMO, though, I think that it's a bit too small for a fully-grown Senegal parrot. What about the AA Nina model? Maybe it's more streamlined than what you have now?

Have you tried cross-posting this in the Poicephalus forum here on BB? Perhaps you can get some feedback from members about what cages they use for their sennies and other poi's.

Best of luck,

-e-

I thought it was a piece of you know what when I checked it out at a store. didnt like it at all and size wize I figured it too small for a Tiel. It is very limiting for perch and toy space. The concept was good but it seemed crowded inside to me and didnt even have toys yet. I say shop around and THEN go online.

I personally don't like the AA line of cages and also don't know a whole lot about them, so I really can't help you out with that. However, I do have experience with HQ cages and can say that they are very nice quality. As luck would have it I actually used to have the HQ 80024 cage that you are looking at and I will say that it is a very nice cage. I liked it alot and so did my bird. It was easy to put together and clean - it was very nice quaility and never had any sort of problems with it. HQ cages are very nice and the 80024 is a very good cage. Hope this helps!!

My friend Sean just brought home a baby senegal about two weeks ago... He ordered that exact cage (the Avian Adventures one)... He sent it back. Enough said.
I only have parrotlets so I can't really recommend any cages for larger birds, sorry!
