Cage that is easy to keep clean?

I have an avian adventures cage for my caique and a large flight cage for my gcc. These cages have so many nooks and crannys and I cannot possibly keep them clean. I want to get two new cages that have less areas to collect food, dirt, droppings. I used to wheel the cages out into the backyard and take them apart and spray them clean, but I dont have time for that anymore. I need something I can quickly wipe down.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I was considering a st. steel cage (see post below) but I am afraid these are out of my budget.

Thanks!

I wish there was such a thing as an easy to clean bird cage. One can only dream.

Hi there. You're right - the way cages are made - it is difficult to clean any of them. Personally, I have found the California Cages as one of the easiest to keep clean. Some people don't like them but I do and I've had many different kinds. I think the simpler a cage is in design, the easier it is to clean - just my two cents:)

And yes, stainless steel would be my dream cages too. They are just too pricey for me. Perhaps someday.....

Maybe a cage with a stuffed bird?

My aviary is actually pretty simple to keep clean, but that is mostly because I can turn the hose or power washer on and clean everything easily (the birds just fly up to the top of the flights--it is eight feet high--and fuss at me)

try to get a cage with a textured finish, rather than one with a smooth finish. textured cages are soooo much easier to clean, we dont have to scrub ours, just wipe off the poo.

Where can I buy a steamer. I searched ebay for "steamer" and got nothing... perhaps I need a proper search term... (sometimes I'm stupid.. sorry). If you guys could tell me where to buy a steamer and a good brand I would appreciate it.

I will look in California cages. Thanks! I agree completely! The simpler the better. My boys spend a lot of time playing on top of their cages and it makes things worse. I want to start over with clean cages. I cant possibley clean between the bars of the flight cage...the bars are too close together. And the avian adventure cage has a million ninety degree turns and crevices. I hope the ca cage fits the bill! (literally...get it?)

Yes, where can we get a steamer?

Thanks,

jenny

Thumbs up Steam Cleaners

Steaam cleaners are used by people who believe in cleaning without chemicals. Pretty much, they heat the water super hot, and you pull the trigger, and piping hot steam shoots out of it cleaning and sanitizing with no chemicals. It's just water!

Here's a link to some steam cleaners steam cleaner - Google Product Search, or jsut google steam cleaners, and you will find them.

I've used a steam cleaner to clean my house for several years- and I just used it on Petri's cage- and it works just as great there as everywhere else.

It's a super-green, super-safe, super-sanitary alternitive to conventional cleaners.

GO GREEN
