I think you will really like the Hahns. What are your other choices?

I'm also looking at a Pionus that I saw listed on Craigs List.

Here's the thread where I weigh the pros and cons of the two birds.

p.s. The Hahn's did have a full bloodwork panel done and everything came back clean, but he's still exposed to lots of other birds at the shelter.

I have a Hahn's macaw and I LOVE Mia. She is perfect. She's cuddly and sweet and talkative. She's hilarious and always moving and playing with toys or me. I'd think that that cage would be ok for a Hahn's. I have a 36 inch cage for mine and she uses EVERY inch of hers. Once I move out i want to get a 48 inch ;) She's such a lively bird. I have a playtop for her on top of her cage and I just got her a play stand that she loves too!! She's really a great bird!

In comparison to the others, Davey's cage is embarrassingly small but he is out of it most of the day on his playtop and playstand. So far he is doing well. Someday he will have a bigger cage when I have more room but I would say that the amount of time you are able to spend with him and the amount of time he is out of the cage can help justify smaller. If Dave was home alone all day locked in his cage he would need more space but that isn't the case.

Thank you all for the input. I ended up deciding on the other bird, so I need to start my cage search all over again :)

I've got a baby Hahns coming too - he'll come home sometime in August. He's only 3-4 weeks old now, and I'll visit him for the first time on Sunday.

I am a sucker for big cages...I think as long as the bar spacing is appropriate, and it's not big enough for the bird to actually fly around in, bigger is better.

I bought this cage - it's all set up and just waiting for Beaker to come home. It was a total bargain...the physical birdcages4less.com store is here in the Phoenix area, so I was able to buy the floor model of this cage for $349, which is amazing.

question
why are you against being ably to fly around in it although it would be a huge cage for a bird that size to fly in
opinion
think twice about a corned cage. you can put any cage in the corner but you cannot put a corner cage any where, lol

That is a very nice cage, but I have to agree on huntress with what she said. I have nothing against corner cage - I love the look of them, but thats about all. You have to make sure you have a corner that the cage will fit into and if for some reason you move in the future or want to more the cage elsewhere in your home you have to make sure you have a said corner large enough.

The cage is already bought and set up, and it's perfect for the room...we have always had a big awkward empty corner in the family room just begging for a bird cage. It really could go anywhere if need be...it's like a half-hex so a flat side could go against any wall, really.

As for being able to fly inside the cage...I would just be afraid of him getting hurt, unless it was a huge aviary.
