Question I am thinking of using this cage for Aviary

Hey folks I built this cage about 4 years ago, believe me it looks a lot better when it is all cleaned up-

IMGP1972 (Large).JPG

it is 10' wide x 6' tall x 5'deep (it used to be 7' tall but I had to cut it down to fit into the Penske truck so I could move from to Las Vegas to Georgia, heck I wasn't gonna leave it behind)
here is a pick of the wire it is 1" x 1" GAW wire

IMGP1973 (Large).JPG

I originally built it for a large iguana (he didn't like it) I know that there is rust on it but I have the means to eradicate that situation. The last two years I have been using it for a trash cage (no trash ever escaped it lol )
Now that I have it cleaned out figuring I could just park it under my maple tree in my back yard, I am thinking of using it for a nice hanging out aviary (I've been eyeballing it ever since I got my CAG and B&G)

I am a little concerned about the wire although I bought it at a feed and supply store, and back then they reassured me that it was safe for all animals including birds.

I will be able to treat the rust and repaint it with nontoxic paint, but I am not worried about the frame because the way I built it the birds will barely have any contact with it unless they are climbing on the outside but I don't have any plans for them to be doing that.

So.......what do you all think of it?............LMB

I wish we had the weather here to make an outdoor aviary work for more than a few short months... I would love that!! One more reason on my ever growing list of why I am moving south as soon as my youngest (13yr old daughter) is out of high school...

The galvanize finish is most likely oxidized off by now and rust wont hurt but a good vinegar bath wont hurt. If you paint it you will be painting it constantly. Any grey would love to spend time out in that. I want it,lol
