Thumbs up How to save on bird lining

I am recently kicking an idea around to share with you the importance of bird lining for the bottom of the cage & how to save on money! Coming soon!

I use newspaper and it doesn't cost me a dime. My neighbors and my mother in law all save their newspapers for me. I have confirmed with the lady we purchased our fids from that our local paper ink is lead free, no guarantees on glossy ads so we toss those out.

Yes, I was going to suggest newspaper--seeing that is what I use for my birds. I just think it is kind of silly spending money on lining when you can use already read newspapers in your cage. Make sure you have a grate though, separating the ink & feces from the bird. Guess everyone has their own techniques!

We have a pulp and paper mill nearby and I got a huge roll of unprinted newspaper. I've had it for years now and will likely not get through it for a couple more years at least.

It's great fire starter for our woodstove, too.

I just use newspaper - my parents actually save me all the newspaper they get and put it in a big pile for me - I then just pick it up from them, it doesn't cost me a thing.
