may i ask how old you are? the reason why it would be interesting is that it determines how long you will continue to live at home.
i'm not saying that my way is the right way, but i'm very very "strict" when it comes to pets - when i adopted nino, only my name went onto the paperwork, just to make sure that BF and i never have to argue over it. whose bird is this going to be? yours or your mom's? what's going to happen to the bird when you move out? (i'm sure i don't have to point out that they live a long time). the thing is - it's nearly impossible to have a house of content humans, if one or more people are not fully supportive of sharing the hosue with an avian companion. they are messy and loud, need a lot of time and space, costs pile up for vet visits, fresh produce to feed, high quality pellets etc., and often they develop some sort of behavior issue over time (for which the key is work work work and some more work). if your mom doesn't support the requirements that come with a bird, i'd be hesitant to go for it, given that you're likely to have A LOT of arguments over various things just my thoughts... i'm not trying to "talk you out" of getting a bird. i'm trying to point out that you might be having a lot of discussions. oh, and no - the place for the cage is not a good idea. also, the cage is small... when i first got valo he was in a 25"L X 21"W X 30"H cage, and i felt that was way to small. and he's a greecheek

One thing to keep in mind with the new cages you posed is the bar spacing. I am sure the last cage bar spacing is at least 1 inch, which is also way too big for a conure. While the space inside is great, there is a trade-off in safety of the bar spacing.

If you go to Birdcages4less.com... you will find the cage you posted a lot cheaper. Also one that is nearly the same but has shelves that is the one my birds are in. The cage is not great in my opinion (I HATE the door latches!)... but it works nicely for the money.
