OMG! Why didnt I think of it...

I cannot believe I didnt think of this myself. A person who has ONE bird in her house has given me the BESTEST Idea ever...and I have TWENTY!!!
Always trying to think of ways to protect the floor around the cage right? So I go in her house and she has this wonderful "stuff". She puts down a nice even square of this sticky film you see in new houses on the carpet. You can get it at home depot or Lowes. AND she tells me she just sweeps it off, Vacs around it and it doesn't come up with the vac and then she takes the dust pan with the rubber edge and pops off the "crusties" (ie,Poop) AND you can damp mop it many times before it needs replaced and then its cheap and easy for two people to lay down. OMG! She brought me a roll and we had about two strips was plenty wide enough overlapping about a half inch to give me just enough to be about six inches all the way around the outer edge of the cages. You hardly notice it there once the cages are on it. She did say NOT to vacuum over it or it pulls the carpet against it and will cause the carpet to be sticky when you take it up.
I love it and no more scatter rugs and towels to get scattered and tripped over and pushed around by the doggies

I got one of those plastic mats that are used under office chairs. Size is perfect and it stays put!

Yea, I have a couple of the office chair mats also that I use for the play area of the birds. It is very easy to clean, stays in place, and keeps the carpet looking nice.

I like that idea, i have throw rugs on top of the carpet and one HUGE piece of burber carpet left over from a project and it's fraying at the edges and my vac is always hungry for the frayed edges!
