Night Cage for BFA?

Does anyone have just a night cage for their bird in their bedroom just for sleep? I'm trying to get my house ready to bring home our Amazon. He already has a HUGE cage which I'll be keeping near the living room/kitchen for safety purposes but would like to get a smaller one for the bedroom. The question I have is how small can I go? I don't wish to cram him in but I don't have much room in there either. I'll also be getting a stand for him so I can move him around from room to room with me.

Another cage for night time is a good idea but unnecessary in my opinion unless the area where the bird cage is really busy even at night/ late night. Just invest on a good cage cover. Congrats on your BFA (just got one myself 3 weeks ago).

Thanks Jun for your response. Although the area I'm going to place his cage in is not very active at night I'd still like to have him in my bedroom for safety reasons.

Congrats on your new baby as well. Cookie was originally my Mom's bird who passed on last year and I have no experience with big birds whatsoever so I need all the help I can get.

A sleeping cage doesn't need to be that big. I would say, make sure there's enough room for Cookie to comfortably turn around and stretch, but if it's only for sleeping, it doesn't need toys and room to play. Does that help?

Yes it does. Thank you. I could buy a larger cage as well and just take off the mess guard too in order to minimize it's size.

I have night cages for both my guys.

You can use a dog kennel or crate as well. My cockatiel sleeps in a plastic cat carrier, the meyers has a small wire cage. Like they said, it doesn't have to be big. My meyers cage is large enough that I can use it for a travel cage too, which is convenient! It's small enough that it's easy to carry down to the beach or throw in my car.

My goffins sleeps in a smaller cage also, we have an open floor plan and even with a cover, he can hear the tv, and if I cough he will answer me. I just feel he gets a better rest if he is in a dark quiet room.

Thanks for the recommendation. I do have two smaller dogs but the spacing between the bars of their crates are too big. They sleep in the bedroom with me as well and I really don't have bureau space to have the bird up high. I've been searching online all night to find a decently priced cage that will fit into the space I do have.

If you really want a sleep cage, Avian Adventures has a nice, smaller cage called the Piquito Avian Hotel. I use it as a travel cage for my guys. I was just talking with people today who have a double yellow headed amazon that uses this particular cage anytime they travel. It's a nice size and nice construction and it is portable so if you do need to take him someplace in it, he will have a feeling of security and familiarity. Kings Caages makes a nice aluminum one too.

Thanks Tom. I checked out the Poquito Hotel and it doesn't appear tall enough for an Amazon. I may be mistaken but the inside dimension is only 14" in height.

As for Kings Cages I tried to download their brochure online and was unsuccessful.
