Buckeye looks real upset, real upset. So now that I know all this can I and my brood come live with you!

Lori I have been meaning to ask you a question anyway and this is as good a place as any!

I went to the feed store and they had horse leads (I am sorry I do not know what they are called as I really do not know much about horses except they are so beautiful). I bought a couple of them as they are made out of polypropylene. They do have the brass at the ends and I know that this is a no no. They look very much like what Buckeye is standing on.

If it is the same, may I ask what you replaced the brass with? Thanks.

what are you doing with them? Making perches? I dont know - I use the horse leads with brass snaps for my horses but I dont use horse leads for birds?Im confused. This bird toy was made by another member and it is poly rope wrapped around PVC pipe or hula hoops Maybe (I think she uses both, lol) and then screwed and/or glued in place.

I want to make perches and boings. The horse leads are made of polypropylene which I believe is the same material that poly ropes are made out of. I went to the feed store and they had these on sale for $7.50. They came in beautiful colors and are nice and long. I did not notice that yours was a globe. I guess what I can do is cut the brass snaps and burn the ends so that they melt together and not come apart.

I think this should be safe correct? The wire that I will be using is 14 gauge stainless steel or aluminum.

It is is still much cheaper to buy the rope by the foot or sometimes I have seen bundles way cheaper. Cutting and burning is safe but dont do the burning around your fids and dont breath the fumes from the ends yourself as they are highly toxic. Getting the wire in is a different story. Too much of a pain for me,lol. I buy boings at Bird fairs! I make perches from natural wood. This Playgym was a gift.
