Cage Fiasco

Well. I'll keep it short.

Last Nov. I bought the Flight cage for Holly. Adopted Meena. Meena turned out to be a boy. Separation time.

I put Holly in my starter cage when she started laying again & started the hunt for 2 good cages.

Found the A&E 702 cages for $115 each. 18x22, 5/8in bar spacing, powder coated, big doors, stands. Liked em' a lot.

Listed & SOLD my flight on craigslist in one morning. Arragned to be picked up on the 18th.

A&E 702 cages arrive early :D BUT they have sections of bar spacing that are close to 1in (7/8!!!) and for some reason it only measures in at 16x22! >: Not suitable for a cockatiel at all. (Exterior dimensions of the tray were 18*24)
Album showing measurements that I sent to the store:

The welds on the stand were sloppy; holes. The cage had a few sharp spots. The door is the worst design I've seen. The open top bent the cage top when you tried to use it.

After a week of talk & emailing pics the website agreed to accept the return. No problem. :) A little stressing, but it turned out okay. I'm not being held responsible for shipping costs either.

I can't believe how WRONG every web site is about the AE 702 cages. I checked the descriptions & reviews all over the web trying to get the best idea of what I was buying before I got it. I even found pics of people w/ tiels in them. I asked if it was possible I received a knock off, but the response was basically that they ship directly from A&E warehouses so they doubted it.

Flight cage being picked up in 4 days. Need at least 1 cage NOW.

I made a fast run to petco & picked up 1 of the teardrop cages and it turns out I'm very happy with it. $90 in store. Good size, guillotine doors are stuck so bad I can't even open them but I'll tie em' closed anyways, has a HUGE swing out door. Good color, easy to arrange, lots of horizontal bars. Holly seems happy with it.... So much so, I ordered another one for Meena online for $75, free ship.
So until my other teardrop cage gets here my set up includes my old tiny starter cage & the new teardrop:

Now I just have to get the flight cleaned up and ready to go.... and buy a table to put the two new cages on.

I'm serious, my kids aren't this much trouble. Lol. :lol

I like the teardrop cage, it looks like you've been able to pack alot of toys into it, too! I'd have fun in it. hehe

Are you near Vancouver BC Canada? I have a well made cage like the first one on your post. It's sitting empty in my garage. I would be happy to give it to you.

I'm closer to the equator. :) Thanks though hollyhawk, that's a wonderful gesture.

The AE cages were picked up last night, they are in a UPS truck somewhere. Glad to have them GONE.

I'm just glad the person I sold the HQ flight cage too isn't picking it up until Saturday now. I'm not kidding I was stressed out pretty bad. It was a week of emailing and calling daily. In the end though the company I bought the AE's from was exceptional- they paid shipping both ways & sent ups to my door to pick up and everything.

My 2nd teardrop cage will be here Saturday too.. :)

Definitely too far away. LOL The shipping would cost more than what the cage is worth.
