Single or Double Flight Cage?

Hi all,

we will be upgrading our Jenday's cage in the next few weeks, but i need help deciding between A&E's single or double flight cage. if cost wasn't an issue, i wouldn't even consider the single flight cage, and without hesitation i would go with the double; but, cost is an issue ($175 vs. $320). so, i would like your opinions on what i should do. i will be back in school this fall, and so he will be left in his cage (with toys of course) for several hours (ex. 9 hours) a day a few days a week. so, i'm wondering if it would be necessary to get the roomier double cage for him to be happy, or would the single suffice? i don't want to compromise his health and happiness, so if you really think the double would be better please express this.

Edit: also, if i get the double, i will not be able to get him as many new toys right now as i would if i were to get the single.

Thanks in advance.

I have a single flight cage for my GCC, but she doesn't spend much time in it. i think if you have the money and room, go for the larger cage, conures will make use of every inch of their cage! but if you can't get the double, i'm sure he'd be okay in the single...

Are you going to be ordering the cage online? I'm just wondering because i noticed you're in Canada, and i'm looking for a new flight cage for Cookie... ( i'm noticing rust on the one he has now... ) If you're ordering one online, which site are you using?

I would say stay with the single. That being said my birds are rarely in their cages so a big cage isn't the best investment for me. My parrotlet had a huge cage and is now back in his original cockatiel cage and happier than hes been in weeks. My conure was going to use the single flight but since he literally is only in it to eat and sleep, we opted to sell it and keep him in a smaller cage as well. So if it were ME (& since I have had the single and think it is HUGE) I would stick with the single. The double is REALLLLLLLY big but would do well if the bird spent a lot of time in the cage.

I have weird babies who like to feel like they live in closets, LOL. Whatever makes them happy!!!

I posted on the other thread about this - but I recommend the single. I definitely think it is big enough for one conure, toys included!!

All my guys (except Angel) are in a single. My Suns have plenty of room... even when the boys were sharing a room they had enough. I was thinking of getting a double at one point, and I wish now I would have because I could have split up the boys that way. Keep in mind, though.... if you get a double and then go to put another bird in the other side, only wire will seperate them, and if they don't get along, you could have nibbled toes!

It's really what you're comfortable with, but I think the single provides enough room for my suns to have a ton of toys, perches, a ladder, etc. They haven't ever seemed like they were lacking space....

I don't know if you're willing to order from www.birdscomfort.com but I have already 3 flight cages from them, and just ordered another. They ship fast, and are only $99 there for the HQ
