honest opinion - CAG cage size?

do you think a cage that is 61"x24"x24" is big enough for an african grey?

That would make it really tall right?? I think minimum cage for a lovebird is 30 by 18 by 18 or 24x24x18. I would think that the cage you are suggesting might be a little too small although Im somewhat bad with dimensions. Im thinking though of a lovebird cage and the cage you are saying just sounds too small for me, even though it is high.

Do you have a photo???

I think that's too small. My rehomed grey came in a 24X24" wide/deep cage, and it was super small for her. I bought a 32" cage, and it made a lot of difference.

Hi Sarah -
how much time would the Grey be in that cage? If it's really ONLY for sleeping, then 24"x24" is passable. But if that's a daytime cage where he'll be spending waking hours, that's not large enough. A cage should be large enough to contain several types of perches, multiple toys, food dishes (all arranged so poop doesn't land in or collect on anything) PLUS have enough space left over for the bird to be able to climb, hang and spread their wings all the way. Logistically I don't think you can fit a Grey and all that stuff into a 24" x24" space.

According to this page: Minimum Parrot Cage Sizes by Types/Species , a Grey should have at least 30"x36".

Tell us a little more about what you're looking for and we can help you find a good deal on something more suitable.

I don't really like corner cages because you can put any cage in a corner but if you get a corner cage, you're kind of stuck putting it in a corner. Plus, they aren't as roomy as the rectangle cages. I've been told they are harder to clean too. If you do go with a corner cage, I would say the second cage would give him/her more room.

I would go with the second choice, one you add the toys and perches, not to mention the bird it wont seem so big.
