Re-Powder Coating.

Wow, I am really excited... I contacted a local powder coating company to check into prices of making a few of my cages new again.

I have never checked into it before, but this company came highly recommended (not for bird stuff) but just for high quality, honesty, good customer service.

The prices were AWESOME, I was shocked!

He quoted me $100 for my humongous Macaw Cage! He said it was "food safe" powder coat? That it only comes in 3 colors though White, Grey and Black. I wanted white anyway... Is this the right kind of powder coat???? Anyone know???

Here is the cage he will do for $100

Is that awesome or what????

He quoted me $75 to do an older large dometop cage that I have.

I am all excited, that sounds like a really good price to me!

Does anyone have experience doing this? Is there anything I need to ask him, or any specific powder????

Thanks guys... You are all always SO helpful and knowledgeable. Appreciation sent in advance...

Wow, really low prices! Will they be sandblasted or otherwise cleaned of their original coating?

Yes that would be "the powder coat" We have a local woman that charges about the same, and does lots of work for rescue societies. She always sand blasts the old paint off first.

Does this work on rusty cages? I see them for sale but I am afraid I wont be able to redo them.

If they're sandblasted, that will remove the rust and prepare them for the powder coating process.

Those are really good prices. The company here that does it wants about the same price as it would be to probably go out and buy a new cage.

What state do you live in? I have a cage I would really like to have redone so I can use it. I left messages for one guy I was told does it but he never returned my calls.

Most auto body shops can do it as well.

Not many auto body shops can do powder coating. They have to have an oven large enough for the parts to bake and most cars are not powder coated. LOL, thats not a huge cage,lol....wonder how much for a big double Mac like mine??. Anyhoo, Tracy ru2usmc has had it done - looks nice and like new!!
